Stoke-on-Trent businesses can take first step to Olympic glory

09/05/2011

Local businesses aiming for first place in the race to win London 2012 contracts can get off the starting blocks by attending a free training workshop.

Businesses in Stoke-on-Trent are being invited to a free Procurement Training Workshop to ensure they are ready to compete for London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and other public sector opportunities.

The London 2012 procurement training workshops, delivered by BIP Solutions and organised by Business Link West Midlands, are designed to provide firms with specialised training, to help them understand the detailed procurement processes used by London 2012 and other public sector organisations.

Vanessa Darlington, Stoke-on-Trent Olympic co-ordinator, said: “There are many opportunities for businesses to get involved with the public procurement legacy before, during and after the 2012 Games. Several firms in Stoke-on-Trent have already struck gold securing work in London on the back of the Games. Submitting successful tenders comes in part from experience; I would urge Stoke-on-Trent firms to attend the workshop to learn first hand how to get it right.”

The next procurement training workshop in North Staffordshire is on Thursday June 30, 2011 at Yarnfield Park Training & Conference Centre, Yarnfield Lane, Yarnfield, Staffordshire, ST15 0NL. All workshops are free and run between 8:45am and 12:15pm and are open to all organisations in the West Midlands.
