Two talented UTA Taekwondo athletes from Stoke-on-Trent achieved fantastic results in Korea last week at the 6th Korean International Open in Gumi.
Bethany and Peter Johnson representing GB in the UTA Taekwondo team came away with Bronze and Silver medals. Both athletes travelled from their Stoke UTA Taekwondo Club to the competition that took place on the Korean mainland that is the home of WTF Olympic Taekwondo.
Bethany who competed on the second day had to play as a Junior player as there was no younger Cadet division in which to compete. Despite competing in a division with older competitors Bethany stormed to success to take the Bronze medal.
Peter Johnson 6th Dan WTF competed on day three in the Senior Masters 2 Division securing a Silver medal behing the Australian National Team medallist.
Both athletes gained invaluable expereience from participating in the competition with Bethany also chosen by Team GB to carry the Flag at the opening ceremony.
