People Dancing becomes Dancing for the Games

27/07/2010

Between 10 and 12 September 2010, the programme will be promoted under the name of Dancing for the Games, highlighting the direct connection between the programme and the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Using ArtsFest as the backdrop for kick-starting the campaign, the project will benefit from exposure to ArtsFest’s predicted thousands of visitors plus a number of passer’s by.

This is the beginning of a two year public engagement programme which is made up of a mix of the following activity all aimed at engaging large numbers of people across the West Midlands with dance, whether that is participating or watching.

The public engagement activity at ArtsFest will include:
• Bhangra and Bollywood dance workshops by Sampad
• Impromptu dance performances in the crowd by 2 Faced Dance aimed at getting people talking about and participating in dance.
• A dedicated information point where people can find out more about dance activity in the WM, including the commissioned projects, and sign up to the website which is due to be launched over the weekend: www.dancingforthegames.co.uk
